London Cricket Club, Est 1722

Some clubs are founded. Others are rediscovered.

The London Cricket Club is widely regarded as the world’s first cricket club, with its earliest surviving record dating to 1722. It predates Lord’s and its members helped write the first Laws of Cricket.

Then came the Seven Years’ War and players went off to serve. Cricket’s fortunes shifted, its patrons dispersed, and the old London Club faded from view.

Nearly three centuries later, its story inspires a new chapter.
